Nebraska Football, now 0-5 on the year, hits the road for the second straight week. This time their opponent is Northwestern, who is 2-3 through their first five games.

This appeared to be a winnable game for the Nebraska Cornhuskers prior to last weekend, but now… Maybe not so much, as the Northwestern Wildcats stunned the 20th ranked Michigan State Spartans in Lansing.

With that upset victory, the Wildcats are going to be juiced and their fans are going to be as loud as ever. That doesn’t bode well for Nebraska, who desperately needs a win.

So, what should Husker fans be watching for in this match-up? Let’s take a look.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS NORTHWESTERN

NUMBER 5 – WILDCATS NOT GREAT DEFENDING THE PASS

Last week, Northwestern allowed Michigan State’s quarterback to have a field day. He finished the day with 329 yards with a touchdown and an interception. This bodes well for a Nebraska, who saw a late surge from Adrian Martinez against Wisconsin last week.

The Huskers will need all the help they can get, so if this ends up being a shootout, at least Northwestern showed they’re prone to giving up big plays. The Michigan State quarterback attempted 51 passes a week ago, showing that they were making headway through the air.

Nebraska has been good at running the ball, but if Martinez can make some plays through the air and expose a weak secondary, this appears to be a good week to take advantage with the passing attack.
