CHIEFS WON’T TAKE CRAP FROM OTHER TEAMS

For all the regular season success the Chiefs have had over the past 23 years, they’ve won a grand total of one playoff game.

That isn’t going to win you any respect across the country and can even earn you a label as “soft.” Jacksonville’s All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey trashed talked all week leading up to the game, and linebacker Telvin Smith was so confident about a victory all he could do was laugh when asked about the matchup, per Mark Long of the Associated Press:

But during the game, the Chiefs showed they weren’t going to let anyone come into Arrowhead and push them around —  not even the league’s top-ranked defense.

Outside of actually dominating the Jags with their play, the Chiefs chirped back-and-forth all game, ultimately leading to the ejections of Jones and linebacker Dee Ford.

Jones was tossed for punching a Jaguars player in the leg following a PAT and Ford committed two personal foul penalties — the second for standing over Bortles and taunting him — leading to an automatic ejection.

In addition, running back Kareem Hunt received a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty for head-butting Smith following a play. Luckily, receiver Tyreek Hill was not called for a penalty after providing extreme embarrassment to Ramsey on this play:

The Chiefs, of course, can’t make a habit of losing key players to ejections, but it was nice to see they weren’t going to be intimated by a team who likes to talk behind a microphone in the days leading up to the game.

Sunday we learned the Chiefs have some fight in them, and it could prove large come playoff time.
