UGLY: Kansas State’s defense in the fourth quarter

More from Kansas State Wildcats

By far the most entertaining quarter of the game between Kansas State and the Baylor Bears was certainly the fourth quarter. The two teams went back and forth, scoring seemingly at will and getting touchdowns on demand.

While that’s great to watch if your defense can make a few solid stops, it’s not great to watch if your defense is predictably porous and vulnerable. While Kansas State’s defense did a solid job through the first three quarters against a pretty explosive Baylor offense, it ultimately fell short in the fourth quarter.

Baylor and Kansas State scored a combined 37 points in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats actually outscored the Bears by a score of 20-17 in the final frame of the game. However, KSU simply didn’t get enough stops to win the game.

207 of Baylor’s 557 total yards of offense came in the fourth quarter. The Bears were able to move up and down the field in the fourth quarter at a rate that wasn’t observed in the first three quarters. That’s an issue and that’s what ultimately led to Kansas State’s downfall in this game.
