FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS WISCONSIN

NUMBER 4 – WISCONSIN’S DEFENSE ISN’T INVINCIBLE

Something that Wisconsin has prided itself on over the years has been their stout defense. While the Badgers are still good defensively, the Iowa Hawkeyes were able to put up a good chunk of yardage against them.

Iowa threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 148 yards. This is a good sign for a Husker team that started to show signs of life on offense last week against Purdue, albeit in the second half when it was too little, too late.

Adrian Martinez ended last week throwing for 323 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while the Husker run game put up over 250 yards on the ground. If the Wisconsin defense showed weaknesses against Iowa, that means they’re not invincible. They also lost a lot of their star defenders from a season ago, meaning they’re vulnerable to giving up chunk plays here and there.

Nebraska might be able to move the ball against them, but they have to stick to what has worked for them and keep at it. If they fall behind early, don’t become one-dimensional by abandoning the run game.
