Nebraska Football: Five things to watch vs Wisconsin Badgers
Nebraska football is 0-4 for the first time in school history and things won’t get any easier this weekend, as the Huskers will head to Madison for a date with the Wisconsin Badgers.
The Scott Frost era has gotten off to the worst possible start and now Nebraska football is staring 0-5 straight in the face. Wisconsin, ranked 16th in the nation, has had Nebraska’s number since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten and this game could get out of hand rather quickly.
These are two programs on two completely different paths. Wisconsin is always a threat to make the College Football Playoff while Nebraska hasn’t been on that level at all since switching conferences. Wisconsin has also won all but one game against the Huskers during that time so it hasn’t exactly been a fair rivalry.
Let’s take a look at what to watch for in this game.
FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS WISCONSIN
NUMBER 5 – PUT UP A FIGHT PLEASE
This has been something I’ve been watching for a lot in these past few weeks, but it’s an important one. When the Cornhuskers fell behind by two touchdowns to Colorado, they responded with a bang and eventually took the lead. That was one of the few times we’ve seen this team provide any real juice.
When Nebraska fell behind early to Michigan a few weeks ago, they didn’t play any better after getting kicked around. They trailed 20-0 after the first quarter and 39-0 at half time. Wisconsin is ranked even higher than Michigan was at that time, so this could get even uglier.
If things do get ugly, can the Cornhuskers dig themselves out of the hole and climb back into the game? Or will they give up and get routed like they did against Michigan? The answer to that question will answer a lot more questions moving forward.
