FORMER ROYALS IN 2018 POSTSEASON

COLORADO ROCKIES – DREW BUTEA AND WADE DAVIS

The Colorado Rockies, despite traveling to three different time zones in three straight days, advanced to the NLDS after knocking off the Cubs in the Wild Card Game on Tuesday. They have two former Royals on their squad, both being fan favorites for new money fans.

Drew Butera was the Royals backup catcher over the last few years, but was flipped to the Rockies at the end of August. He appeared in just ten games for Colorado during the regular season and batted .210 during that time.

Butera made an appearance in the Wild Card Game and it was a memorable one, but not in a good way for the former Royal. He was involved with catcher’s interference, which helped lead the Cubs to tie things up late in the ball game.

The other Royal turned Rockie is Wade Davis, who needs no introduction to Royals fans. He was one of the best closers EVER for Kansas City and despite a rocky (no pun intended) season in Colorado (4.13 ERA, but the 43 saves makes up for the bad ERA), he’ll always be a cyborg on the mound to those of us in Kansas City.

Oddly enough, the only two former Royals in Colorado threw the final out and caught the final out in the 2015 World Series. That’s about the best connection you could get when it comes to nostalgia, right, Royals fans?
