Kansas State Football: Drama with Wildcats 2018 season
By John McCarty
3) With new coordinators on both sides of the ball, do you believe there have been differences in either?
There have definitely been growing pains with the new coordinators. They already have swapped Andre Coleman and Collin Klein from booth to sideline after two games this year. That doesn’t seem to have helped much.
4) Much has been made, to a degree by Bill Snyder, about the quarterback play against West Virginia. Is that position the source of the Wildcats’ struggles?
The QB position has been a mess. Snyder favored Delton from the start, but he gives his offensive coaches autonomy to play who they want to play. They all wanted Skylar.
Instead of supporting that, Snyder has just undercut his assistants and Thompson by being openly much more critical of him in press conferences than he is about Delton. Finally in the WVU game he took it upon himself to switch the QBs and didn’t even tell the offensive coaches before he did it.
The way this has been handled has not been good at all and has created a lot of tension with coaches and players.
5) On that note, do you believe the quarterback race was an equal ‘race’ between Delton and Thompson? Some analysts believe Snyder favors Delton.
On that note, Delton is going to start on Saturday. Snyder decided to take control and go his way. Maybe it will provide a spark, but Delton has been very turnover prone and has thrown multiple interceptable balls every game that he has played. I’m a big Skylar guy…I think the best move for long term success in the program is to fully commit to him and build around him the rest of this season.
