Conclusion

The Seahawks have not exactly dismissed their ability to produce or compete for the NFC West. San Francisco is 1-2 and just lost their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. While undefeated, the Rams just lost both starting corners, and likely their starting left tackle for multiple weeks due to injury. The Arizona Cardinals are a mess and are moving to a rookie on a team with limited options on both defense and offense.

How does an organization go the locker room or the fans if they trade away their star safety unless they are blown away with an offer and, with a straight face, indicate they are going to compete and contend for the division? Seattle isn’t out of anything at this point, and their division to a degree may be coming down.

Why would Seattle part with a star defensive player unless a team blows them away with an offer? Sure, the idea of acquiring Thomas sounds nice and, like I said, on Madden would be a lot of fun and maybe even makes sense. However, with the Chiefs facing a salary crunch (especially in 2020, when they will need every dollar they can find) the idea of trading for a pending free agent that may or may not even show up doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Will also use this space to point out Eric Reid is a free agent. Costs no draft capital. Simply have to sign him. Still there.
