The Seahawks Want A Big Return

The Seahawks are looking for a massive return for Earl Thomas. How big? Well, the NFC West team was offered and rejected a second-round pick from the Dallas Cowboys. (Earl Thomas wants to play for the Cowboys. He made news in 2017 when he went into the Cowboys locker room after a game and reportedly asked them to trade him during the now previous offseason). That would mean the Chiefs, who at this point appear far likelier to be picking after the Cowboys, meaning the Chiefs would have to beat a second round pick.

We’ve already identified that the Chiefs have a slew of impending free agents and they may have issues paying for everyone and likely are not able to pay Earl Thomas. So the question becomes, would you trade, in essence, your first round pick for what, at most would be 12 games of Earl Thomas?

The Chiefs already are without a fourth-round pick (Buffalo trade for Reggie Ragland) and a seventh (Dolphins trade for Jordan Lucas). The Chiefs need to add as many young, cheap talent they can find to help them sign as many proven, in their prime players as possible. Trading away extremely valuable draft capital for a player that may not help as much as fans believe, well, isn’t a great bet.
