Trading for Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas makes sense on Madden but in real life probably is not a plausible option for Kansas City Chiefs.
Since the report came out from Chris Mortensen on Sunday indicating the Kansas City Chiefs had interest in acquiring Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, the hype train has been running all full speed. Disgruntled over his current contract and a free agent after this season, Thomas has been anything but quiet in his search to get paid. After skipping out on all of training camp, the Seahawks safety has now taken to skipping practices to ‘keep himself healthy.’ Fans and some media believe the Chiefs should look into trading for the safety. I’ll explain why they shouldn’t
The Seahawks are considering a significant fine to Earl Thomas for conduct detrimental for twice missing practice. No final decision made. He's expected to play vs. Cowboys AND the Chiefs have emerged as a possible trade partner if Thomas is dealt this year, per sources.

The fact that Kansas City is going after a safety like Earl Thomas makes us wonder what the real status of Eric Berry might be. He’s been day to day for over a month, and the Chiefs are keeping us all in the dark on what expectations are for him. Without Berry on the field, the safety group has not been close to the same.
In fact, the safety position has been part of the problem on defense. Bringing Ron Parker back just before the start of the season has put a small band-aid on a big wound. Eric Murray has still yet to be a consistent starting caliber safety as well in the absence of Daniel Sorensen. Could the Chiefs be trying to fill the void for either Berry or Sorensen? Regardless, here are my reasons why the Chiefs should stay away from making this trade.
