Mizzou football came into their week four match-up against Georgia at 3-0 on the year. The Bulldogs were also 3-0. Despite having every chance to win the game, Missouri fell 43-29 to Georgia in Columbia.

Missouri Tigers fans might feel like they should have taken one from the second ranked team in the country and I’d agree with them. Despite losing by two touchdowns, this game was close all afternoon, but Mizzou couldn’t get out of their own way.

Drew Lock wasn’t his clutch self, the defense faltered in the second half, and the offense couldn’t hold onto the football. Throw all of those things together and it resulted in 43-29 loss at the hands of the second best team in the nation.

Let’s take a look at this week’s report card for Mizzou football vs Georgia.

DREW LOCK. C. . Quarterback. Missouri Tigers

This was easily Drew Lock’s weakest game of the season, but it was his only one against a ranked team. The knock on Lock throughout his collegiate career has been that he can’t beat the big time teams and that proved to once again be the case here.

Lock wasn’t bad by any means, but he wasn’t himself. He went 23 of 48 for 221 yards and an interception. It was the first game all season where he didn’t throw a touchdown pass (though he did run for one).

In the first half alone, Lock had just 80 some yards through the air. While Lock wasn’t the only reason Missouri lost this game, he didn’t really help them much. His yardage went up in the second half due to having to air it out more.

With more tough teams on the schedule, Lock has to learn to play better against ranked teams. I’d imagine the NFL will provide tougher competition than Georgia.
