BREWER HICKLEN (OUTFIELDER)

Brewer Hicklen has a memorable name and he could be someone that contributes to the Royals in the next few seasons. Hicklen, a seventh round pick by the Royals in 2017 out of Alabama, is just 22 years old and can play anywhere in the outfield.

Hicklen has mostly spent time in left field and this feels like a good time to bring up that Alex Gordon has just one season remaining under contract with the Royals. Perhaps Hicklen could be his replacement in 2020? We’ll have to see.

Hicklen slashed .307/.378/.552 with 17 home runs and 65 RBI in 306 at bats while in Lexington. He has played most of his games in left field, but has seen time in center field as well. While Hicklen played right field for Wilmington in 2018, he didn’t spend any time there for the Legends.

Hicklen isn’t someone that fans probably expected to be a big name in the minors, but maybe he becomes the next Whit Merrifield for the Royals. You know, a late round draft pick that goes on to make an impact for the boys in blue and become a fan favorite.

Keep an eye on Brewer Hicklen over these next few years. He’s already exceeding expectations.
