Kansas City Chiefs: Players To Watch Against The San Francisco 49ers
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon, and here are my five players who need to improve for a Chiefs victory.
The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten off to a great start winning two tough games on the road to start the season. They return to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday for their home opener, and Patrick Mahomes‘ first career start at Arrowhead. The stadium will be louder than ever as they welcome their franchise quarterback home following two impressive performances against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The San Francisco 49ers will be another test for the Chiefs to prove themselves as they are another up and coming team. Jimmy Garoppolo is the new franchise quarterback of the franchise and looks to get back to his five-game streak to end the regular season in 2017. While Kansas City won’t have elite playmakers to face off against this week like they have the last two, they will still have their work cut out for them.
As Kyle Shanahan tries to develop Garoppolo into his offensive scheme, it will look somewhat familiar to what the Chiefs have been running on offense the first couple weeks. The 49ers go five wide with multiple running backs to get coverage advantages as well. The versatility and speed of Kansas City’s defense will be tested on Sunday.
With that in mind, I looked at five players that either need to step up this week or need a big game, in general, to get a victory in Week 3. These will be critical matchups against San Francisco that will determine a lot of the game. Here are my five players.
