What do you feel confident about going into this Week 3 game?

CW: With linebacker Reuben Foster returning from suspension, and rookie linebacker Fred Warner continuing to look like a third-round steal, the 49ers should match up well against Kansas City’s passing targets in the middle of the field. The duo should also be able to help the 49ers’ defensive line dominate in the run game, and hopefully force the Chiefs to rely more exclusively on their passing attack to move the ball.

I’m also confident that Garoppolo will see more success through the air, particularly if Goodwin is able to play on Sunday after returning to practice earlier in the week.

What are your biggest concerns going into this game?

CW: I’m most concerned about Kansas City’s passing attack. The combination of the Chiefs’ speed on the outside and Mahomes’ arm and playmaking ability will make it a long day for the 49ers’ secondary if their defense is unable to pressure the young QB into making mistakes. Mahomes has been nearly flawless this season and is throwing touchdowns at an unsustainable rate. While he certainly appears to be the real deal, he’ll still need to come back down to earth at some point; Niner fans just hope that begins on Sunday.

dark. Next. How do the Chiefs fair among AFC contenders?

It’s going to be a good game on Sunday watching two younger starters go head to head in what likely will be another shootout. It will be a real test for Garoppolo as he will be forced to do more than he has yet this season to stay in this game. Without elite talents like Antonio Brown and Keenan Allen to defense, Kansas City will still have some tests with Shanahan’s schemes.
