Mizzou football moved to 3-0 on the year and now they’ll get the second best team in the country: the Georgia Bulldogs. What should MU fans be watching for in this game?

Well, the victory didn’t come as easy as I thought it would, but the Missouri Tigers were still able to knock off Purdue last week. I had previously predicted that MU would win handily, but it came down to the final seconds with Missouri kicker Tucker McCann knocking in the final three points to give the Tigers the win.

For the first time this season, there were legitimate concerns to be had with Missouri, which makes sense, considering this was their first Power-5 opponent of the season. Even with the Boilermakers making a game of it, MU kept calm and won 40-37.

It’s not going to get any easier this week, as the Tigers welcome in the second ranked Georgia Bulldogs to Columbia. Georgia is coming off a 49-7 victory over Middle Tennessee and have scored 40+ points in all three of their games so far. The Tigers haven’t allowed more than 37 points.

That leads us to our first thing to watch for this weekend’s game.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS GEORGIA

NUMBER 5 – PASSING DEFENSE

Woof. The Missouri Tigers’ passing defense allowed Purdue quarterback David Blough to throw for 572 yards and three touchdowns last week. Before that, Blough had been struggling big time and he was about to put up nearly 600 yards through the air against Mizzou. Not good.

Along with Blough’s big day, the Tigers allowed three Boilermaker receivers to go 100 yards or more on the night. Rondale Moore had 137 yards, Brycen Hopkins had 136, and Isaac Zico had 100. Yikes, yikes, and yikes.

While Georgia didn’t have a huge passing day last week, they still routed Middle Tennessee. Jake Fromm threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns while Justin Fields threw for 71 and another score. This quarterback duo could easily pick apart the Tigers’ secondary.
