New England Patriots

The New England Patriots is a team that is interesting going forward. They’ve had a bit of a slow start already losing to Jacksonville in Week 2. They were able to beat the Texans at home in Week 1, but how much of that is how good the Patriots are vs. how bad the Texans are is remaining to be seen.

Houston has not looked good after being predicted to be one of the best teams in the AFC this season. Their defense is covered with injuries once again, DeShaun Watson doesn’t look like his rookie season form, and the offensive line is probably the worst in the league which is insane considering that their quarterback is coming back from an injury. How do you not address that?

Regardless, New England will rely heavily on tight end Rob Gronkowski staying healthy and being productive. They will get wide receiver Julian Edelman back soon as he serves a suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. Once he returns, it will be interesting to see how he looks after missing all of last season, and then the beginning of this year.

Until the Patriots prove otherwise, they will be in the talks for a contender in the AFC. Tom Brady still one of the best quarterbacks of all time, and Bill Belichick is arguably the best coach of all time. I expect to see them deep inside the playoffs unless their defense cannot get better, or their offense doesn’t have the weapons they’ve had in years past.
