Fantasy Football: 2018 Week 3 Waiver Wire Wednesday
Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard
Starting running back, Joe Mixon went down with an injury in the game against the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday night. He went into surgery on Saturday for a “cleanup procedure” on his knee which will sideline him for at least a couple of weeks. While he is out, Giovani Bernard will be the starting running back for the Bengals offense.
Bernard has been with the Bengals for a few seasons now. Expect to see Bernard get close to 20 carries per game as the lead back. While Cincinnati will be playing the Carolina Panthers who have a strong defense against the running game, it’s still worth a start if you lost Joe Mixon or another running back. If not, a flex position would be great.
In Week 4, Cincinnati will face the Atlanta Falcons who are a great matchup that gives Bernard high upside. He’s a weapon the Bengals have consistently used in the passing game as well over the past couple of seasons. Given the new look to the offense, Cincinnati is all about getting their running backs the ball coming out of the backfield. Make sure to make this grab if he’s available.
