FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS TROY

NUMBER 1 – WHO WILL START AT QUARTERBACK?

Husker fans were elated to see how well true freshman Adrian Martinez played in his first ever collegiate game, but the story turned south when he left the game with an injury. Fortunately, Martinez has been listed as “day-to-day” and there appears to be a chance he could take the field on Saturday versus the Trojans.

If Martinez is held out this week, it’ll be sophomore walk-on Andrew Bunch handling the starting duties for Nebraska. Bunch looked okay in his limited action against Colorado and if it comes down to it, it might be better for Martinez to sit out for one week than risk getting injured again.

This will continue to be the storyline leading up to kickoff, as Nebraska still hasn’t announced which guy will be taking the snaps this weekend. Martinez starting obviously means he’s healthy and that improves Nebraska’s chances of being successful this year.

Bunch starting isn’t necessarily a bad thing though and wouldn’t it be better for him to start this week and let Martinez rest up before facing Michigan next weekend? Scott Frost will figure out a way for Bunch to show off his talents if he does get the nod to start, so let’s give the kid a chance if he is thrown into the starting role.
