FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS TROY

NUMBER 2 – RUNNIN’ DOWN A DREAM

The Nebraska run game was on fire in the season opener, putting up 329 yards on the ground and looking damn near untouchable in the first half. Colorado had no answer for the Cornhusker running backs.

Adrian Martinez helped out on the ground, rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns with his legs. Even if Martinez doesn’t play, the Huskers will still be able to move the ball effectively, as Greg Bell, Devine Ozigbo, and Maurice Washington all showed some juice against the Buffs last week.

Andrew Bunch didn’t run much in his limited action, but the Huskers were behind, so he was forced to throw the ball. Nebraska will need to dial up some snazzy run plays to give Bunch as much help as possible and if Bell, Ozigbo, and Washington can run as well as they did a week ago, Nebraska can hopefully pull away in this one.

For what it’s worth, Florida A&M only rushed for 68 yards against Troy in last week’s game. It is worth noting that the Rattlers went just 3-8 in 2017 and probably weren’t a fair opponent against Troy, but it did show that the Trojans can stop the run. We’ll see how they fare against a tougher group.
