Kansas City Chiefs: 5 Players To Watch Against The Pittsburgh Steelers
Travis Kelce
It was clear that tight end Travis Kelce was not a significant part of the gameplan against the Chargers. I initially thought that maybe Los Angeles schemed to take him out of the game, but the more I watched, the more it looked like the entire gameplan revolved around getting Tyreek Hill the ball.
Much like the rest of Chiefs Kingdom, I would like to see Kelce get more involved this week. Pittsburgh still has a hole in the middle of their defense without Ryan Shazier. They also have questionable safety talent which could mean some very favorable matchups for Kelce.
Even if they utilize him on short curl routes, I would be completely fine with that. Kelce can make plays after the catch which is one of the big reasons he’s arguably the best tight end in the NFL. I think that with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, we could also see him take the top off of Pittsburgh’s defense.
I see some very favorable matchups coming Kelce’s way on Sunday. Unless Pittsburgh tries to take him out of the game with extra defenders, he shouldn’t have too much problem getting the ball. I think the Steelers will be more focused on stopping Hill after his performance last week.
