Tennessee Titans Tight End Delanie Walker

One injury that fantasy owners will have to replace is tight end, Delanie Walker. The Tennessee Titans tight end suffered a season-ending injury during their Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins.  Tennessee has already placed him on Injured Reserve on Monday.

During the game, Walker dislocated his ankle, and it appears that there was also a fracture. Reports from Adam Schefter were that he suffered a broken ankle and ligament damage. It’s clear that Walker will not be returning to the field in 2018.

While Walker has been one of the most consistent tight ends in fantasy football for the Titans over the past few seasons, they will have to do without him in 2018. Over the last three seasons, Walker has put up 800 plus yards including surpassing 1,000 yards in 2015. Whether or not his replacement will be nearly as productive remains to be seen.

Considering the inconsistency of quarterback Marcus Mariota, who was hurt twice during the loss to the Dolphins, it might be smart to stay away from Walker’s replacement. Jonnu Smith will be the pass catching replacement for Walker, but he doesn’t possess near the talents that Walker did which will leave a glaring hole in an already limited playmaker offense. Staying away from the next man up here might be smart.
