UGLY: SECONDARY PLAY

What a nightmare. Philip Rivers carved up the KC secondary to the tune of 424 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Yes, Rivers was picked off once (thanks Ron Parker), but other than that one mistake, he was on fire.

The secondary should be very fortunate that the Chargers receivers were unable to hold onto anything. They had multiple drops that easily would have given the Chargers first downs, which probably would have led to points.

Were it not for those drops, Rivers might have even touched 500 yards on the day. He wasn’t getting pressured or hit at all and the Chargers wideouts were often left wide open. This secondary was horrendous.

Sure, Eric Berry wasn’t out there and him not seeing the field much over these past few months is concerning, but the Chiefs have to learn to play without him. Kendall Fuller wasn’t the impact player we were expecting and Orlando Scandrick just has that Phillip Gaines vibe surrounding him.

Hey, at least we anticipated this would be the case, right? Really digging for positives here.
