The Kansas City Chiefs start off the regular season with a crucial division game with big implications. What players should we watch for during the game?

The Kansas City Chiefs are kicking off the regular season on the road as they travel to Los Angeles to face their divisional opponent the Chargers. While the first game of the season rarely has significant implications, this one could be the tale of the season. Most analysts have the Chargers winning the AFC West in 2018, and if the Chiefs can pull off a victory in Week 1, it could give them a major jump start over the Chargers at the end of the season.

Kansas City has a rough schedule to start off the season with the Chargers Week 1, traveling to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2, hosting the San Francisco 49ers Week 3, and traveling to the Denver Broncos Week 4. It doesn’t get much better with the team facing the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots following those four games.

The Chargers, on the other hand, have a lighter schedule to start off the season. Los Angeles has a weaker schedule all together which means that this game could be even more important for Kansas City to get a head start on the season.

In this article, we are going to take a look at five players that fans should keep an eye on come Sunday afternoon in the game against the Chargers. The players I’ve chosen for this piece are vital keys to the overall team having success. While some of them aren’t top names, they are players that will need to step it up in Week 1 for Kansas City to come out victorious.
