FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS WYOMING COWBOYS

NUMBER 1 – KEEP ON ROLLING, DEFENSE

MU’s defense is a bit of a mystery this year, but they kept UT-Martin at bay, limiting their quarterback to just 183 yards passing and the running game to 94 yards. Yes, the opposition wasn’t up to par as to what the rest of the SEC will look like, but hey, it’s a solid start.

Cale Garrett led the team with eight tackles, followed by Terez Hall with five. Hall and Jacob Trump both notched a sack on the day.

What I’d like to see in the second game of the season is for the Tigers D to pick off Wyoming’s quarterback. He threw one last weekend against Washington State and with MU not getting an interception in their opener, that’s the biggest thing to look for now with this unit. Can they force turnovers?

They’ve shown they can stop lesser teams from getting offensive production and Wyoming is a bit of a step up from the Skyhawks. If the Tigers can stop the Cowboys with just as much ease, perhaps this defense could be better than fans thought.
