Week 13 – Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders (John)

The Chiefs have a bye week after their trip to Mexico City, but up next are the hated Oakland Raiders. Jon Gruden and the Raiders welcome the Chiefs to Oakland for the last time in week 13.

The question obviously will be, past Gruden, who will still be on the active game day roster? Much like in his previous run as head coach, especially in Tampa Bay, Gruden has made a run at aging veterans to fill out the roster. Do they have enough talent to take down the Chiefs?

Coming off bye weeks,  Andy Reid‘s teams often come out on top and division games have been close to automatic in the past seasons for the Chiefs. The Raiders are a team in transition, bringing in a new left tackle, new linebackers along with a whole new coaching staff.

By this point in the season however, the Raiders are surely hoping the kinks have been worked out and everyone is on the same page. Their offense could really be clicking and the defense might have some stuff figured out. Keyword being might.

Regardless, it’s difficult to imagine a scenario of the Chiefs losing. However with losses to both the Jets and Giants last season on the road and this being the last time the Chiefs play in the Black Hole, and this has the recipe for something strange to happen.

Prediction: The game likely is closer than fans would expect, and perhaps the legend of Mahomes will be born. A late drive capped with Mahomes to Kelce touchdown will ensure a 31-28 victory for the good guys.

Standout Player: We’ve avoided using Patrick Mahomes to this point, but what better time for the kid to shine than against the Chiefs’ most hated rival? He has a game winning drive for the Chiefs’ final game in Oakland.

RECORD: 9-3
