Offensive Line Depth

The offensive line has passed the starters has been an interesting battle over the preseason. While Bryan Witzmann and Parker Ehinger were the known names for the left guard battle, Cam Erving emerged as a surprise starter come training camp. Kansas City moved Ehinger to right tackle for the preseason to shop him around and landed a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.

Andrew Wylie emerged as a player the Chiefs would keep this season as he stepped in for right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif who suffered a concussion early in the preseason. Wylie will remain as the sixth lineman that can move around the offensive line at either guard or tackle spots if an injury occurs this season.

The Chiefs decided to keep nine offensive linemen with Wylie, Jordan Devey, Bryan Witzmann, and Kahlil McKenzie as the backups. They ended up cutting Ryan Hunter, who was the highest prospect entering the Canadian Football League Draft this year, but he decided to try his luck in the NFL. The team has been high on Hunter which makes him a likely practice squad candidate.
