Wide Receiver Turnouts

I will be the first to admit that I was surprised when the team released Gehrig Dieter. He’s shown some real promise throughout the preseason on not only offense but special teams as well. During the first three games of the preseason, he also saw time over players like Marcus Kemp.

After breaking his leg in the Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos, I was doubtful that DeAnthony Thomas would be ready to go this preseason and make the roster. I was once again wrong as he had a breakout game against the Chicago Bears, one of the only good things from that game. He will backup Tremon Smith in the return duties as well.

Gehrig Dieter will likely return to the practice squad waiting to be brought up again like he was last season. While I’m higher on him than Kemp, I see why you would like Kemp. I don’t know the reason of keeping DAT over Dieter just for a backup return specialist. We know what DAT’s potential is and I believe that Dieter has a higher ceiling.
