Defensive Line

Keep: Chris Jones, Allen Bailey, Xavier Williams, Derrick Nnadi, Jarvis Jenkins

The defensive line has been a unit that I have very little questions with. Chris Jones continues to look improved this preseason and could be in for a monster of a 2018 season. If Kansas City’s defense can find more than him and Justin Houston to be viable pass-rushing threats, Jones could get a chance to go off in 2018.

Xavier Williams and rookie Derrick Nnadi have looked outstanding in the middle this preseason. Both seem to be massive upgrades against the rushing attack than Bennie Logan was last year. Both look extremely hard to move and force their way into the running lanes. I genuinely think that we could be talking about Nnadi like we do Chris Jones at the defensive tackle position in a couple of seasons.

Unless the Chiefs were to trade Allen Bailey to make financial room for a player coming in, I see him absolutely making the roster as a starting defensive end. While I have made my case about trading him considering the run support the Chiefs have in their defensive tackles and his contract, I don’t see that happening.
