Safety

Keep: Eric Berry, Daniel Sorensen, Eric Murray, Armani Watts, Jordan Sterns

Kansas City will have to include Daniel Sorensen on their final 53-man roster before they can assign him to the Injured Reserve if they end up going that route. Eric Murray seems to be the named starter next to Eric Berry Week 1. That is if Berry is healthy by then.

Armani Watts finally had the preseason game that we were looking for with his two interceptions and almost came away with a third. The first was handed to him by an overthrown ball, but the second interception showed his playmaking ability.

Considering that Leon McQuay was starting against the Packers with Watts, I want to say that he has a spot on this roster. I still am going to go with Jordan Sterns as the fifth safety on the roster. He looked good in the late part of the Packers game as he seemed always to be wherever the ball was. He also played in coverage breaking up a few passes.

McQuay will likely be brought back unless the team can find someone better following the cut downs and after Daniel Sorensen hits Injured Reserve with designated to return. I wouldn’t put it past the team to move on from McQuay as he has shown nothing this preseason that warrants him a spot.

The last three roster spots go to kicker Harrison Butker, punter Dustin Colquitt, and long snapper James Winchester.
