Cornerback

Keep: Kendall Fuller, Steven Nelson, Orlando Scandrick, David Amerson, Tremon Smith, Arrion Springs (Charvarious Ward likely hits the practice squad)

The cornerback position got even more interesting before the Packers game on Thursday night. Kansas City decided to send Parker Ehinger to the Dallas Cowboys to receive UDFA cornerback Charvarious Ward.

While Ward was undrafted and from a small school, he seems to fit the bill in what the Chiefs want from their cornerback position. He’s tall and physical who has his most success in press man coverage. Whether or not Bob Sutton keeps to his word of wanting to play more press man coverage this season will have to be figured out when we get to the regular season.

Arrion Springs had a great game against the Packers, and if there was any doubt of him not making this roster, I think he solidified his spot on Thursday night. He has also seen time practicing with the safety group which would make him a versatile piece/more valuable.

I think that there will still be another addition to this position group following the cut-down. I believe that David Amerson makes the final cut until they find that replacement, but considering his rough preseason, Kansas City has to find something better via trade or a player that is cut from another roster.
