FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS TENNESSEE-MARTIN
NUMBER 4: WHICH RECEIVERS WILL STEP UP?
We all know Drew Lock can push the ball downfield, but who will he be pushing the ball to? The Tigers lost J’Mon Moore to the NFL and now have mostly unproven targets for the hopeful Heisman candidate.
Say what you want about Moore and his drops, but the guy had over 1,000 yards receiving in both 2016 and 2017. That type of production will be tough to replace.
Nate Brown and Emanuel Hall will be two guys fans will be monitoring. Brown didn’t do much last year as a junior, hauling in just 11 receptions for 89 yards. He showed some burst as a sophomore with 326 yards and four touchdowns, so the hope is that he can double those numbers.
As for Hall, he had a good year in 2017, catching 33 passes for 817 yards and eight touchdowns. The Tigers will need him to replicate those numbers (or go for over 1,000 yards) in order to help propel this team to prominence.
The Tigers don’t have the star-studded cast of wide receivers that Drew Lock could certainly use, but these first few weeks will be telling in who becomes his most trusted targets.
