POTENTIAL SEPTEMBER CALL-UPS: BUBBA STARLING

Sigh. All of the potential in the world and Bubba Starling still has yet to amount to anything for the Kansas City Royals. He’s on this list because this is probably his final chance to show he has anything in the tank, but I feel like I say the same thing every year when it comes to Starling.

The former 2011 first round pick for the Royals has yet to make his Major League debut and turned 26 years old at the beginning of August. Not a promising sign.

Before it was due to Starling’s struggles offensively that kept him from an MLB call-up, but now it’s the injuries that have piled up. As of now, Starling is still injured and hasn’t seen a whole lot of time for the Storm Chasers this season either, having just 41 plate appearances all year and batting a mere .257.

It might finally be time to give up on Bubba Starling. He’s shown he can’t stay healthy and hasn’t even taken a Major League swing yet. Why continue down this path?

POTENTIAL SEPTEMBER CALL-UPS: RAMON TORRES

Last, but not least is infielder utility man Ramon Torres. Torres has seen a significant amount of time in the majors over the last two years, slashing .225/.269/.265 during that time. He offers the ability to play second base, third base, and shortstop and has major league experience, which makes him a pretty obvious choice to call-up next month.

Count on seeing Ramon Torres in a Royals uniform this September. He might not play much, but the decision seems to be an obvious one.
