With August coming to a close, it’s about time for the Kansas City Royals to start calling up players to join the team in September. Who will make the cut?

Every year in Major League Baseball, the active roster expands from 25 players to 40 players beginning on September 1st. This means the Kansas City Royals can call up anyone already on their 40-man roster to join the team for the duration of the regular season.

If the Royals want to add someone not on their 40-man roster, someone else has to be moved off of it. In other words, players already on the 40-man who are healthy and good to go have a great chance of making the team in September.

While not every spot will be filled, one would have to think the Royals will try to get as many bodies as they can to the majors with how badly this season has gone. That could get some excitement going for the final full month of the regular season.

If you’re still confused on how the September call-ups aspect works, click on the link I provided in the second paragraph. That should answer all of your questions.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at some guys who will be joining the Royals next week!
