Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams

It wasn’t too long ago that the question whether Davante Adams was a bust or not was a major topic in Green Bay. Then came the last two seasons where Adams became a viable target, enough to where the Packers decided to move on from Aaron Rodgers’ favorite connection in wide receiver Jordy Nelson.

Before Rodgers went down last season, Adams was his number one target. Even with Rodgers leaving for the season and Brett Hundley stepping in, Adams saw 24 targets inside the red zone which tied for fourth in the league. Now Adams will be the number one wide receiver in Green Bay, but he will have a new weapon to battle with for red zone targets.

The Packers signed tight end Jimmy Graham over the offseason who led the league in red zone targets with Seattle in 2017. While this could take away from Adams, the Packers will easily see more touchdowns in the upcoming season with Rodgers returning.

Having arguably the best quarterback in football, Adams has a real chance at surpassing 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his young career. Without Nelson on the field and Graham being primarily a red zone threat, I see Adams reaching that mark and then some.
