Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill enters his third season with the Chiefs, but only his second season as a full-time wide receiver. During his college years, Hill was primarily a running back. During his rookie season with Kansas City, he was a gadget player that was used all over the field. Then came 2017, when the Chiefs elected to make him the number one receiver and move on from Jeremy Maclin.

Hill went off last season and proved all of his doubters wrong by hauling in 1,183 yards and seven touchdowns. Averaging 15.8 yards per catch, Hill was a threat no matter where the Chiefs were on the field. He has the chance to be even better in the upcoming season with a gunslinger like Patrick Mahomes taking over the offense.

So why is Hill ranked further down this list? The main reason is the number of playmakers the Chiefs have on offense. With tight end Travis Kelce on the roster, he will likely be the security blanket for the young Mahomes. There are also weapons like newly acquired receiver Sammy Watkins and the leagues leading rusher Kareem Hunt who is also talented coming out of the backfield.

While I think that Hill’s numbers could see even greater heights in 2018, especially with what we saw from that bomb against the Falcons in week two of the preseason, there are just too many weapons that need to touch the ball. I think that Kelce will have the best season of his career in 2018 and considering Hill isn’t a big receiver, he won’t get the red zone targets as often as guys like Kelce and Watkins.
