Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs

The Minnesota Vikings look to have one of the top offenses going into the 2018 season. Just one game shy from making it to the Super Bowl a season ago, the offense is upgrading with the return of running back Dalvin Cook, but also a significant step forward at the quarterback position.

Minnesota backed up the money truck and unloaded it on former Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins. He should be a significant upgrade over Case Keenum who was the third-string quarterback entering the 2017 season. While Cousins looks to be a significant upgrade that could send the Vikings into the Super Bowl, he doesn’t come without flaws.

One of the flaws with Cousins is his red zone efficiency as he ranked the second most interceptions with three just a season ago. Cousins also tends to favor tight ends when in scoring range which could end up working against Stefon Diggs.

However, even with Kyle Rudolph likely getting an uptick in red zone targets, Diggs has the upper hand in that area of the field over Adam Thielen. He was also hugely successful and reliable in the red zone last season catching 12 of 14 targets. While Diggs hasn’t surpassed 1,000 yards in his short career to this point, much of that can be blamed on the quarterback position lacking in recent years for the Vikings.
