Fantasy Football: Top 15 Wide Receivers To Target In 2018
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green
The Cincinnati Bengals offense took a major fall in the 2017 season. Firing their offensive coordinator only two weeks into the regular season, the offense never had a chance to reboot. Not to mention the fact the tight end Tyler Eifert has been unable to stay on the field.
Given the vanilla offense that the Bengals deployed last season, I see no reason that A.J. Green doesn’t improve his numbers from a season ago. It’s not too often that we talk about a wide receiver having a down season when he surpasses 1,000 yards.
With an entire offseason to work on a new playbook with second-year offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, the offense has the reason for hope. Second-year running back Joe Mixon will take over the top rusher position, second-year wide receiver John Ross is fully healthy for the first time and has worked hard this offseason to get ready to prove he wasn’t a bust. Then bring in the fact that Tyler Eifert returned on a one-year incentive deal and those look like some good weapons.
While quarterback Andy Dalton is not an elite quarterback, he is good enough to make me think this offense can take a major leap forward from what we saw last season. The offensive line that struggled tremendously a season ago has seen a couple of upgrades which should allow Dalton more time in the pocket. That, in turn, allows more time for A.J. Green to get downfield.
