Outside Linebackers

Keep: Justin Houston, Dee Ford, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Breeland Speaks, Frank Zombo

Cut: Tyrone Holmes, Rob McCray

The outside linebacker position is one that I don’t see changing at any point this preseason. Dee Ford will remain on the roster despite whether we want him to. His fifth-year option being guaranteed due to injury will not mean that he will be a lock as a starter. Although, it seems that the Chiefs are going to keep him there at least in the first part of the season.

Tanoh Kpassagnon and Breeland Speaks have both been disruptive in the backfield during their two preseason performances. While we didn’t get to see them as long as we did week one, they both forced the quarterback to change his position in the pocket.

Frank Zombo will likely remain as the final spot. Given the injury history between Justin Houston and Dee Ford, it would seem almost a lock for Frank Zombo to still be a lock for the final roster. He knows the defense and while he’s not a great pass rusher, he does help in the running game and could help the younger talents on the roster.
