Offensive Line

Keep: Mitch Morse, Eric Fisher, Mitchell Schwartz, Cameron Erving, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Bryan Witzmann, Jordan Devey, Andrew Wylie

Cut: Bentley Spain, Tejan Koroma, Jimmy Murray, Parker Ehinger

Practice Squad possibility: Kahlil McKenzie, Ryan Hunter

I’m keeping my stance of the Chiefs only holding onto eight offensive linemen. The offensive line had a nice rebound after a putrid first preseason game. Even without Laurent Duvernay-Tardif who suffered a concussion, the overall unit looked much better.

Cam Erving had some good plays against the Falcons that has me a little more confident. In the first play of the Chiefs offensive drive, Erving took down two different defenders and played like a mauler through the whistle. That aggressiveness was a highlight of the night of the line.

Andrew Wylie took place of LDT at the right guard position and has risen among the rest of the linemen for that role. While Wylie had some struggles during the Atlanta game, he looked to have some flashes of hope and the Chiefs seem pretty high on him starting him with the first team unit.

Wylie had the second most snaps on the offensive side of the ball right behind rookie UDFA Ryan Hunter. While Hunter is listed as the backup to Cam Erving, I still don’t see him making the final cut over some of the players that have already seen time with the ones. He could make the practice squad, but it seems that he will be on of the odd men out.

Parker Ehinger is another player that I feel the Chiefs are not able to find a spot for. After not being able to beat out Bryan Witzmann when he became healthy last season, the Chiefs have tried him out at right tackle most of the training camp which indicates that he won’t be returning to left guard duties.
