Tight Ends

Keep: Travis Kelce, Jace Amaro, Alex Ellis

Cut: Demetrius Harris, Tim Wright

Practice Squad: Blake Mack

Another player that we talked about earlier being a possible surprise cut was tight end, Demetrius Harris. Given that Harris is suspended for the first regular season game of the season, both Jace Amaro and Alex Ellis have a good shot at being on the roster for at least one week of real football.

Jace Amaro was on the field for 31 snaps while Alex Ellis was in for saw 20 snaps against the Falcons according to NFL Game Statistics and Information System. Kansas City used two tight end sets regularly with the second-team offense and both tight ends displayed some flashes.

I’ve yet to understand the Chiefs’ love for Harris over the past couple of seasons as much of Chiefs Kingdom has as well. The only reason I feel that he has made the roster is the lack of talent in former preseasons. The 2018 preseason is different as Ellis and Amaro have displayed enough for me to be comfortable with both of them making this roster instead of just one of them.

Blake Mack still feels like a practice squad player as he has seen very limited snaps and opportunities this preseason. The once training camp star has been limited in a sense that makes me wonder if the Chiefs are trying to hide him and stash him for a season.
