Sixth Round Pick defensive tackle to offensive guard Kahlil McKenzie

Kahlil McKenzie spent his college career at Tennessee before choosing to opt out early and go into the NFL Draft. Regardless, the Chiefs decided to draft the Oakland Raiders general manager’s son and convert him to offensive guard. As if drafting him just for who his dad it wasn’t enough.

McKenzie will be an exciting prospect to watch, but one that will likely hit the practice squad this season. Switching sides of the line, he will have plenty of development. Offensive line coach Andy Heck seems thrilled about the prospect and what his potential is.

Much like the rest of the players that were drafted by the Chiefs, McKenzie holds the aggressive and competitive nature that Veach has been looking for. Given that the offensive line is primarily athletic instead of maulers outside of LDT, McKenzie could bring some nasty and brute to the front line in a season or two.

McKenzie saw the field for 26 snaps with the Chiefs offense against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. It’s apparent that there is still plenty of work to be done there, but you can see the aggressive nature that he brings to the line.
