Fourth Round Pick safety Armani Watts

Armani Watts has been someone that has gained a large fan base in Kansas City right away. The fourth-round pick reminds fans of Eric Berry’s playstyle at times. His aggressive, hard-hitting nature has fans ready to see what he can do.

During the first preseason game against the Houston Texans, Watts played with the starting defense alongside Eric Murray. He remained in the game taking 49 defensive snaps as the Chiefs need him to get as many reps as possible with Sorensen’s injury.

While he received plenty of snaps in the first game, he also struggled. Seeming lost at times and slow to diagnose plays, Watts showed that he wasn’t ready. Kansas City coaches agreed and moved Leon McQuay to start with the first team defense against Atlanta.

When Watts came in against the Falcons, he had a much better performance. The lack of reps, having 30 less than the previous game, Watts rated as the highest defensive performer for the Chiefs against Atlanta according to Pro Football Focus. He allowed only one reception which went for three yards and forced a fumble over the middle to end the Falcons final drive.
