Third Round Pick linebacker Dorian O’Daniel

Dorian O’Daniel is another rookie that was unable to perform during the Chiefs first preseason game due to an injury. When he hit the field on Friday night against Atlanta, he showed that hard-hitting that we have all heard about. O’Daniel is a downhill thumper that plays exceptionally well when the play is in front of him.

Most of the offseason, the discussion was the O’Daniel is part of the replacement for safety Daniel Sorensen. While I don’t think that he would play as well in a safety role, he surely knows how to attack plays closer to the line of scrimmage.

We finally got to see some snaps for him against Atlanta, and while he only came away with two tackles, he made them count. Delivering a quick and bone-crushing tackle is what O’Daniel did. His recognition and elite close speed mixed in with the fact that Sorensen will be out for the first part of the season could be just what gets him on the field early. He will be a situational player, likely in dime packages, but he could be something great down the road.
