Kansas City Chiefs: How the Chiefs rookies have performed so far
Third Round Pick defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi
When drafting former Florida State defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, the Chiefs brought in a player that is hard to move in the middle. With great size and strength, Nnadi will make things difficult for offensive linemen who are trying to open up the middle for the run.
Nnadi was unable to play in the first preseason game against Houston, but his elbow injury didn’t hold him back against Atlanta. Collecting three solo tackles, one quarterback hurry, a tackle for a loss, and a sack, Nnadi proved that while he is primarily a run stuffer in the middle, he also has some ability to get after the passer. He also came up with a 4th and 1 stop in the red zone stopping the Falcons running back from gaining any yardage.
Kansas City has struggled tremendously to stop the rushing attack over the past few seasons. Especially when looking at the last two playoff performances. With the help of Nnadi and free agent signing defensive tackle Xavier Williams, the Chiefs have gotten bigger and disruptive in the middle of the defensive line.
