The Kansas City Chiefs have many 2018 rookies that will contribute this season. We take a look at how they’ve done through two preseason games.

The Kansas City Chiefs will depend on some of their 2018 rookie draft picks and undrafted free agents in the upcoming season. While most of them will not start this season, many of them will play in situational roles to contribute on offense, defense, and special teams.

We have already gotten a good look at some of these players at training camp and through two weeks of the preseason. Some of the rookies have earned more playing time and playing time with the top defensive units as rotational players.

Most of these rookies are on defense as general manager Brett Veach wanted to make some changes to a defense that struggled tremendously last season. Grabbing all defensive players through the draft, including sixth-round pick defensive tackle Khalil McKenzie who will be switched to the offensive line, the Chiefs will need some of these players to step up soon.

Kansas City was without a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and will likely not see rookies in starting roles till at least later in the season as they need time to develop. Most of the players drafted were brought in for situational roles that will get them playing time this season. Some of them were brought in for future hopes of being starters.

Now that we’ve seen them in action for training camp and a couple of games during the preseason let’s take a look at how each rookie has performed so far for the Chiefs.
