FANTASY FOOTBALL ROOKIES TO TARGET: NUMBER  3 – ROYCE FREEMAN

The Denver Broncos added rookie running back Royce Freeman in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and the chances of the kid making plays this year are pretty good. His only real competition on the depth chart is Devontae Booker, who will likely be the starter, but nothing is set in stone there.

It’s also a strong possibility that Booker wins the job initially, but once Freeman is ready to take over full-time, Booker is moved to a backup role and Freeman gets the bulk of the carries. Booker has mostly disappointed during his NFL tenure, but with C.J. Anderson gone, he’s the most experienced back on the roster, making him as the starter understandable.

Freeman is coming off a year in which he rushed for 1,475 yards and 16 touchdowns at Oregon. The Broncos would definitely welcome that type of production after losing Anderson in free agency and needing a solid run game in order to help out new quarterback Case Keenum.

When looking at the rookie options for fantasy football this year, Royce Freeman is almost always at the top of the list. He put up good numbers in college, but will he able to continue doing so at the pro level?

Depending on how Booker and Freeman’s battle goes for the rest of the preseason, Freeman could be as early as a fourth or fifth round pick and could also end up going in the middle rounds. If he beats Booker out for the job, don’t reach too high on him, but know that he could be worth gambling on.
