FANTASY FOOTBALL ROOKIES TO TARGET: NUMBER 4 – RASHAAD PENNY

Rashaad Penny recently broke his finger, which will sideline him for a few weeks, but the hope is that he’ll return in time to play in week one. The Seahawks surprised a lot of people by taking Penny in the first round last season and now he’ll look to immediately be their starter.

The injury obviously sets things back a bit, setting Chris Carson up as a more “sexy” option in fantasy football drafts. Don’t get it twisted though, as soon as Penny is ready to go, he’ll be the one carrying the rock. It might be a few weeks before he’s the actual starter, but Penny will get plenty of chances to prove himself.

Penny rushed for over 2,200 yards and had a whopping 23 touchdowns last year at San Diego State. Yes, the numbers were likely skewed in his favor due to playing in a smaller conference, but the proof of how dominant the guy can be is right there.

The Seahawks will have to score a lot this year due to their key defensive players either being washed up or not on the team anymore. That opens up opportunities for Rashaad Penny to step up and make plays for the Seahawks in his rookie year.

Depending on Penny’s finger injury, look to draft him in the fifth or sixth round. If he’s still hurt, however, you can probably wait a few more rounds to scoop him up.
