The Kansas City Chiefs will eventually have to trim their roster down to 53 players and that’s what the preseason is for. Who took advantage and saw their stock rise after Friday night’s game in Atlanta?

There are always players who make a name for themselves during the preseason and get rewarded by making an NFL roster. That’s what the Kansas City Chiefs, and the other 31 teams in the league, are doing over these next few weeks.

The Chiefs had some players shine in their 28-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Obviously Patrick Mahomes had a big moment, but he won’t be included on this list. We all know Mahomes is making the team, so his stock wouldn’t be affected whether he had a great game or a lousy game.

Let’s start things off with a lesser known guy!

BEN NIEMANN

An undrafted signee out of Iowa, Ben Niemann has seemingly come from nowhere during the Chiefs preseason. He had arguably one of the best defensive plays of the night, picking off Kurt Benkert in the fourth quarter. Niemann took it 26 yards to the house for the pick-six.

While it was against a third and fourth string team, Niemann made a play and got himself noticed. The Chiefs defense has lived and breathed off of turnovers the last few years, which could make Niemann a much more important asset throughout the rest of the preseason.

Keep an eye on the Iowa product these next two weeks. He could end up being a very underrated player down the road.
