The Kansas City Chiefs struggled to stop the run once again last season and after an offseason focusing on just that, here’s why it will be better in 2018.

It’s no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs struggled to stop the run game during the 2017 season. The Chiefs’ allowed teams to rack up 118 yards per game on the ground. And it was only made worse by allowing a whopping 202 yards during the heartbreaking home playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans.

After finishing 25th in the league in rushing yards allowed the Chiefs look to improve in that area specifically. The offseason was spent bringing in some players that should help. General Manager Brett Veach was aggressive looking upfront in the defense this offseason. The biggest signing on defense this offseason came at the inside linebacker position adding Anthony Hitchens.

The team also drafted guys like defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi to contribute and help stop the run as well. Kansas City also brought in Breeland Speaks and converted him to outside linebacker. He could be a player that could help this run defense as well.

Here are three reasons that the run defense will improve.
