New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara

Saints running back Alvin Kamara was one of the star rookie running backs from last season. Leading the league in yards per carry with 6.1, he also led the league in receiving yards with 826 yards. His overall stats from last season were 728 rushing yards and eight touchdowns with another 826 yards and five touchdowns through the air.

Kamara will have the backfield to himself for the first four games of the season as his partner Mark Ingram will be facing a four-game suspension for violating the league’s PED policy. Once Ingram returns, Kamara will lose some snaps but is still likely to be just as explosive as last season. The part that might hurt Kamara is that Ingram will likely take over the goal line touches once he returns.

New Orleans lost on a fluke play to the Minnesota Vikings to reach the NFC Championship game in 2017. It seems that the team has done nothing but improve their chances to take the next step in 2018 getting even better on defense. Quarterback Drew Brees is getting up there in age, and the Saints want to get him another Super Bowl win before he retires.

I expect Kamara to have another explosive season and possibly top his numbers from last season. He will have a head start getting the full workload in the first quarter of the season. Expect the Saints offense to be firing on all cylinders and for Kamara to be up there with the top backs in the league once again.
